The 5th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment U.S.

(The Louisville Legion)

"No single body of men can claim more honor for the grand result than the officers and men of the Louisville Legion of 1861." Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman

Welcome to the web site of the 5th Kentucky Infantry. My name is Joe Reinhart and I am the author of A History of the 6th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry U.S.: The Boys Who Feared No Noise, published by Beargrass Press, December 2000. I plan to write a comprehensive history of the 5th Kentucky and need access to Letters, Diaries and Photos of men from the 5th Kentucky for this book. Please contact me at jrein8@yahoo.com if you have any information that would help or had an ancestor in this outstanding regiment.
